How should we measure absolute strength?

(Leaving the gear debate aside, if that's possible. I'm debating the same issue on the USAPL forum, because I maintain that Jeff Lewis was just as strong as Brad Gillingham yesterday. Brad made his 3rd DL to tie Jeff, knowing he'd win on BWT. I'm just upset I couldn't watch. Here is my post reprinted from there):
