Rob ..I think it is important to answer in the best interest of the sport....far to long folks have become defensive related to how they enjoy the sport. I can only speak to my views.
What is IPA style?

Nick: Saying IPA style referred to the music and atmosphere. Which was fantastic. Nothing more nothing less. In fact, not only IPA but most multiply lifters like the this atmosphere. YEP .. even fires me up ..an old fool from the old school.

Nick:
IPA rule - The lifter must bend the knees and lower the body until the top of the thigh at the hip, NOT the hip joint, is lower than the top of the kneecap.USPF rule - the lifter must bend the knees and lower the body until the top surface of the legs at the hip joint is lower than the top of the knees.

The judging was very tight and consistent. Ask the lifters who bombed.

Nick: Yes it was ..I said that.(See above rules).

Sorry, but I couldn't help but think you were basically saying, "Pretty good meet for an IPA meet." You might have thought you were positive, but I saw it as condescending.

The last thing I wanted was to come across as condecending. I know what it takes to run a competition the caliber of the IPA Pro Am. It is no cake walk. The meet was not "Pretty Good" it was excellant.

The only reason I take offense to your post is: 1. I get tired of the people on here who tout certain federations as making their lifters squat deeper than others; and 2. the judges at the meet were indeed consistent, as you said, but their consistency had nothing to do with "IPA" rules; they were very conservative with the judging and made sure that the judging didn't compromise the meet's integrity.

Thanks for the chance to explain. I tout no federation. I may not have respect for some because I think they do the sport more harm than good. IMO However, the IPA is not one of them. Anyone with any degree of intellegence can see what you guys are doing is working!
Much to some's dismay, I have been working to bridge the gap with the equipment issues also. Did it in Vegas. We will attempt to do it again and with the IPA agents in 2008.
Do not read into something that just isn't there. No matter who attempts to twist my original post.
