Nick, twice you made reference to 'IPA Rules'. By any logical reading it would be taken to infer that the IPA has rules that are written to allow a 'loose' squat. The rules all read the same basically in every fed. Wheather you say top of the thigh or top of the leg at the hip or hip joint. It's all the same. The hip is a joint. It is stated that way to allow all lifters the same even playing field. If the hip joint is the landmark that judges use to break the parellel plane then you are viewing a parellel plane of the femur and the platform surface. That is always fair for lifters of any thigh mass (lightweight to SHW). Your repeated reference to "by IPA rules" infered that you think; or would have others think, that the IPA has a different depth rule than other feds when in fact they are all the same. You shouldn't make slants at a fed following the rules to imply superiority of a fed or two that choose to ignore them and create a 'standard' in spite of the rules. If you'd not made the 'IPA rules' comment I'd think it was a great commentary. But I have to think you are smart enough to know you would open this 'can of worms' by saying that. Sorry if I'm wrong and it wasn't intentional.
