In Response To: Give it to me straight experienced lifters.. (Tony Foster)

I have empirically studied this a bit, as I am 6'3" but with a 6'5" wingspan. My bench sucks, but DL is pretty good.
1 - heavier guys generally are taller, so they have to move the weight farther
2 - heavier guys have bigger midsections, moving the weight farther from their center of rotation (lower spine) increasing the effective weight having to be pulled
3 - it may not look like it, but taller people have smaller arm to height ratios (even though their arms are longer in an absolute sense) so they have to pull the weight even FARTHER in relation to their height vs. a shorter person

Of course there are freaks out there (Bolton, Benni, Konstanovis, etc.). Their arms are SUPER long to compensate, to the detriment of their bench.
