I havnt competed in over 8 years, and there hasnt been one day that I havnt thought about when my next meet or personal record will happen. I have seen other lifters suffer heart attacts, strokes, and get crippeled up in car wreaks, and be talking about their next meet meet and planning a big traing cycle.I watched my best friend and training partner Troy McNett get cancer in 2001 he died in 2002, plan for his next meet untill the day he died. I was talking to this guy the other day that I remembered from back in the 80's that used to compete, he had put on about 100 pounds, was in a power scooter at wal-mart, with a oxegen tank, and was telling me that he was going to lose weight and start traing and hit some records in the masters 60 -64 class ! I mean what is it about a sport, that has so much controversy, that causes so many injurys, costs a lot of time and money that is so damn addictive ? Is hitting a personal record worth all the abuse, to me the anwser is HELL YES !!!
