TECHNICALLY, Casey wasn't any more responsible for the 2 slots we won than the 7 other members of the Pan Am Team. There were 2 other lifters that earned 1st place points. If Casey hadn't lifted, we would've lost a net 26 points (-28 for Casey, but +2 for Schluender), moving us into 3rd place and earning only 1 spot, but he would've been replace by someone and all they had to do was place 19th or better to take second or 11th or better to still win. (1st & 2nd place got 2 spots. 3-5 got 1). And considering USAW's worse placing was 8th and there was only 1 class (62 Kg) with more than 14 totaling, 2nd was an extremely doable thing.
Casey was however the top point getter in both the 2006 & 2007 World Championships. Casey scored more points in 2007 than any other US lifter scored in both years combined. He clearly would've been most responsible had we qualified through the World Championship method.
