What is all the more amazing, is that there never was a Bob Madow!

In what had to be one of the greatest hoaxes since the Cardif Giant of the nineteenth century, the myth of Bob Madow has persisted to this day. The idea was sprung in the summer of 1965 by some NY Metro lifters, who submitted exagerated contest results to various magazines, using the ubiquitous name, "Bob Madow". Soon, Madow-fever swept the East Coast and fans waited many hours in vain, during competitions, in order to view this legendary figure. The perpetrators of this hoax feared the wrath of Hoffman, Terpak, etc and swore a blood oath never to reveal the truth.

Fingerprints taken from olympic bars proved to have no match in the FBI files and few actual photos exist. The items submitted to the Forum have been proven to be mock-ups, skillfully created by supporters of Madowism.

If such a person truly existed, he would have set the lifting world ablaze, alas, such was not the case.
