Occasional fasting etc.

I read a highly intersting arrticle in Milo about. Thea uthor is well into his 70sand still in very bgood condition. His diet of raw vegetables and fruit is not for me casue I have way too many allergies. For me all the food he critises yields zero allergies (milk, meat etc.). Bu tthat fasting has some merit also for me. I do one day a week, just water and vinegar. Then it`s back to basic stuff. He has fasted for a s long as 37 days in a row.
How is that possible for someone who holds a challenging job? Has anyone here experiences with fasting for several days? Is 1 day a week already a really good step in itself? How can an allergyprone fellow eat his diet (at least occasionally)? Do you know of any vegetarians that keep their muscle?
Sorry for all these questions but he wrote in great detail about the negative effects (very serious) if one does not apply some of that.
