In Response To: Tendonitis (Brian Moyer)

I've battled tendonitis for years in my elbow (epicondylitis if you want to do a search on it). When it gets so bad to the point that it's just throbbing after bench, I HAVE to take a week off. During that week, use lots, and I mean LOTS of ice 5-6 times a day for 20-30 minutes at a time. I started taking cissus which has helped a little. I would lay off the ibuprofin. Alot of recent studies are showing NSAIDS (ibuprofin, aleve and the like) have little to no effect on connective tissues and can actually hinder your body's natural recovery abilities. I stopped taking it and noticed no difference in severity of the pain and it actually started feeling better.

There are a bunch of stretches (which never helped me) that you can try too if you do a search. Long term, I started hitting hammer curls in the 6-10 rep range on my bench days . This has helped tremendously. I also do high rep 15-20 hammer curls for 1-2 sets before bench which helps also.

Good luck with it, it can take MANY months to get over when it's bad but if you stay consistent with these therapies you'll be fine. Mine took almost a year to settle down.
